A militant has been neutralised in an exchange of fire with the Assam Rifles in Nagaland’s Wokha district, ANI reported on Sunday, adding that six weapons including two AK 47 rifles were recovered from the spot.

The north-eastern state has witnessed frequent insurgencies and inter-ethnic conflict since the 1950s. Over the years, National Socialist Council of Nagaland-IM has been accused of indulging in killings, extortion and other subversive activities. Its persistent demand for separation from the country, led to military clamp down on the group.

Further details are awaited.
