A villager in Malkangiri district was on Sunday shot dead by Maoists, who accused him of being a police informer. A fortnight ago, the extremists had killed another tribal in the district over similar suspicions.

According to the police, on Saturday night, a group of around 20 Maoists stormed into the village Kandhaguda and took Arjun Khara him with them. His bullet-ridden body was found in a nearby forest in the wee hours of Sunday.

A hand-written note was found next to him, in which the Maoists accused him of working as a police informer.

The action comes in the wake of the killing of Maoist leader Sonadhar by the Odisha police.

Sonadhar had executed the 2013 Darbha Ghati attack, in which 30 people, including Chhattisgarh Congress leader Mahendra Karma, were killed.
