Maharashtra: Two pilgrims dead, 35 injured in road mishap

Police said there were 43 pilgrims in the private bus. They came to Pune on Friday by train from Odisha and then hired a private luxury bus for visiting religious places.

Two pilgrims were killed while 35 others were left injured when a private luxury bus in which they were travelling after offering prayers at the Bhimashankar temple met with an accident in the ghat area of Pokhri on Friday night. Police said that both deceased and all the injured people are natives of Odisha. The deceased have been identified as Prafullakumar Shahu (40) of Jajpur and Mamta Birajbandhu Mishra (45) of Devgad.

They visited Dehu and Alandi temple and then left for Bhimashankar. Their bus broke down in Shinoli village. After some time, another private bus reached the spot and picked them up for going to Bhimashankar. While returning from Bhimashankar, the bus driver lost control in the ghat section in Pokhri the bus turned turtle at around 11 pm.
