The state government has decided to recommend a super session of the Solapur Agricultural Produce Marketing Committee (APMC) and appoint an administrator for the market. Maharashtra Minister of Cooperation Subhash Deshmukh said the decision was taken in view of the alleged irregularities in the business dealings of the market.

“There have been irregularities in the recruitment of staff, in allocation of houses and other businesses. In view of these irregularities, the state government has decided to recommend a super-session of the present board of directors and appoint an administrator for the market,” he said.

Deshmukh said the district deputy registrar of cooperative societies concerned would be asked to take necessary action.

Meanwhile, Chairperson of the Solapur Market Committee Dilip Mane termed the move as politically motivated. Mane, a former Congress MLA, said he was being targeted.
