Kerala: Pinarayi orders probe into Maoists’ encounter

The families have demanded a judicial probe into the killing as the sub-collector, who has been asked to probe the incident is a divisional revenue officer and is part of the government.

With doubts surrounding police claim that two suspected Maoists were gunned down in an encounter, CM Pinarayi Vijayan Sunday directed an executive magistrate to probe the incident. Vijayan asked the sub-collector in Perinthalamanna in Malappuram district to submit a detailed report about the killings. Outlawed CPI (Maoist) central committee member Kuppu Devraj, 61, and state-level leader from Tamil Nadu, Ajitha, were killed allegedly in an encounter in Malappuram forests on Thursday.
