Thirteen patients with pellet injuries in the eyes were admitted to Srinagar’s Shri Maharaja Hari Singh Hospital (SMHS) on Tuesday, taking the total number of such patients in the ongoing agitation in Kashmir to 713.

SMHS officials said the patients admitted Tuesday were from south Kashmir as well as Srinagar city. Eleven of them underwent surgery. Two of them had injuries in both eyes.

The patients said they were injured after security forces used pellet guns on protesters. “After Eid prayers, there were protests in the area. I was hit by pellets,” said a youth from Shopian.

Around 50 patients are currently admitted in the hospital.
