Karnataka Chief Minister Siddaramaiah today came out in defence of cabinet colleague R Roshan Baig, who has been accused by a BJP MP of “being directly involved” in the recent murder of an RSS worker here, calling it an attempt to “destroy” harmony in society. “Keeping forthcoming elections in mind they are making  such false allegations. Is there any evidence for it?”  Siddaramaiah told reporters here. “They are making false allegations, BJP, by lying, is  trying to destroy the harmony in the society,” he added.

RSS worker Rudresh (35) was hacked to death allegedly by two motorcycle-borne men on October 16. He was with his friends after attending a Sangh event when the incident occurred. BJP MP Shobha Karandlaje had yesterday accused Baig of being directly involved in the recent murder of Rudresh. She had alleged that Baig got Rudresh killed by giving  contract to halt his personal growth and also that of the organisation in Shivajinagar area, which he represents in the Assembly.

Terming Karandlaje’s allegations as “false and a publicity stunt”, Baig had said he was contemplating filing a defamation case against her. He also said he was ready for a CBI or NIA enquiry. Five persons, including the Popular Front of India (PFI) Bengaluru chief, have been arrested so far in connection with the Rudresh murder case.
