Former Arunachal Pradesh Chief Minister, Kalikho Pul’s wife, Dasanglu Pul will be contesting the Hayuliang assembly seat by-election on Bharatiya Janata Party ticket. The by-election was necessitated due to the sudden demise of Pul, who was found hanging in his Itanagar home. Pul’s government was supported by the BJP after his faction rebelled against then chief minister Nabam Tuki and broke away from the Congress party. The Supreme Court, however, restored Tuki’s government and pulled up then Governor Jyoti Prasad Rajkhowa for dismissing the government and introducing President’s Rule. He was found dead less than a month after being unseated by the apex court order.
On Wednesday, Rajkhowa claimed that Pul left behind “secret notes”, whose contents are so “explosive” that it could cause “tremors in Indian politics”. Rajkhowa, who stepped down as governor in September, told The Indian Express that he had been seeking a CBI inquiry into the circumstances leading to Pul’s death. “Because before his death, Pul had written one long note, a series of notes with the title Mere Vichar or my thoughts, in about 60 pages,” he said.
