IN WHAT is being termed a “historic win” for Telangana Rashtra Samiti (TRS), the K Chandrasekhara Rao-led party made a clean sweep in the Greater Hyderabad Municipal Corporation (GHMC) poll results declared on Friday.

The party, which is in power at the state level, won in all the five zones and made inroads into the old city areas as well by winning a total of 100 seats out of 150. The elections were held on February 2 with a voting turnout of 45 per cent.

The TDP-BJP combine were left with an embarrassing 4 seats, while the Congress bagged only 2 seats. It is a major setback for the TDP and Andhra Pradesh Chief Minister N Chandrababu Naidu. The Majlis-e-Ittehadul Muslimeen (MIM) has won 43 seats.

In another boost to the TRS, people from the Andhra region have voted overwhelmingly in favour of the TRS. Crucial wards in the IT corridor like Madhapur, Gachibowli, Miyapur, which is dominated by people from the Andhra region, have been won by the TRS. Even Kukatpally, which is considered an exclusive Andhra enclave, voted for the TRS. The TDP had won the Kukatpally Housing Board ward the last time.

During the election campaign, CM Chandrasekhara Rao and his son K T Rama Rao, the IT Minister, had said the TRS did not differentiate between people of various regions and states living in the city. The party had also promised to build low-cost 2 BHK houses for socially and economically backward people.

Speaking after the results in the evening, Rao said, “This is a historic victory as no party has ever won over 55 seats in GHMC elections. Among the promises we made, the most important is giving 2 BHK houses to eligible beneficiaries.”

BJP is modi centric. So it fails to develop party faces in every states. The party does not seems to be active apart from modi rally before election that policy gives upper hand to its opponents those are mostly corrupt and criminals. The high expectations from modi makes people rethink of their choice. Even party members started critucising its policies. BJP is the cleanest and development friendly party but people demand much from BJP and less from opponents. Those goonda parties are waiting for PM post. If it continues like this after three years the future will be chaotic. Janata parivar with alliance with congress, AAP and left can may rule this country. Corruption, rape and black money will be very normal

Congress need not worry about MCH elections, recall during Rajiv era after accords in Punjab ans am Cong lost but returned back to power in subsequent polls . once voters realise TRS is good for nothing when it comes to development TRS will end up like AGP

Good that both bjp and congress lost. Serves them right. One a party of medieval killers, the other a gang of crooks. Dustbin is the right place for both.
