With almost all major newspapers and TV news channels in Telangana being run by those perceived to be ‘pro-Andhra’, Chief Minister K Chandrasekhara Rao is reportedly unhappy with the media coverage for his government’s welfare measures.

So after backing T News, a Telangana-focused news channel launched at the height of the separate state agitation in 2011, and Namaste Telangana, a Telugu daily published by Telangana Publications, whose founder D Damodar Rao is believed to be close to the CM, KCR and his family are now betting on an English daily, Telangana Today. The daily, which will again be published by Telangana Publications, will be the third media initiative linked to the state’s ruling family.
