JNUSU president Kanhaiya Kumar’s father on Thursday refused to accept security at his home here and alleged that his son was “punished” by BJP and RSS for defeating their candidate in the students’ union elections.

“We politely urged the policemen to go back as we do not require security. The entire village is with us,” Kumar’s father Jaishankar Singh told PTI.

“Instead of us, please provide security to my son who was mercilessly beaten up by lawyers during production in the Patiala House court,” Jaishankar, who is confined to his home due to paralytic stroke two years ago, said.

A day after Kanhaiya was assaulted by lawyers in the court complex, the police deployed security at his home.

The JNUSU president’s mother Meena Devi is an Aganwadi worker, earning Rs 4,000 a month and running the household.

Jaishankar alleged that his son was “punished” by BJP and RSS for defeating their candidate in the JNU student’s union polls.

“They are out to destroy the career of my son for following a different ideology,” he alleged.

Kanhaiya’s native home is in Masnadpur Tola in Bihat village under Barauni police station, about 30 km from the town headquarters of Begusarai.

Jaishankar said the whole family and neighbours are worried about Kanhaiya and sought justice for him.

Kanhaiya’s elder brother Manikant Kumar, who works in a private firm in Assam, has rushed back home, so has his younger brother Prince Kumar, who is preparing for Civil Services examination in Delhi.

After clearing MA from Nalanda Open University in Bihar, Kanhaiya had joined JNU in 2011 to pursue an MPhil in International Studies. He is now in the final year of his PhD.

It has become fashionable to attack BJP and RSS just to make a statement! There is a ready made support group for this - they just change the cap to be hired by one or the other! BJP and RSS will be "good" if they just keep paying Jijya to this hooligans for their freebie ride!

Commies and Congies are the ones who have vested interests in keeping people poor. Investment in this alone can provide a fertile ground for breeding terrorists and Commies and Congis and in this order. They have failed to address this issue during their long rein and made all attempts to keep it that way.

("They are out to destroy the career of my son for following a different ideology,” he alleged.) It's ok to subsidize education but not politics that questions the integrity! Obviously he was keeping "study" as a side show like Many Gadnhian avatars keep hi mask with them!

As kanhaiya's father you must be ashamed to have a son who spreads hatredstead of studying which most probably he is incapable of ,he wastes tax payer's money. He should be sent home, the seat should be given to a more deserving student. As a father we can see how poor you have been in his upbringing.you can hang yourself

Someday your son should go sloganeering on streets and talks of Desh ki Barbadi, faces the same music and you defend him in spite of knowing he is wrong, just becoz he is your son. Then we will see how you react.

There are other ways of showing opinion. Educated lots like him, doing what we see on tv is not way of showing opinion. Are you deliberately acting ignorant that you did not see or what he did? Or just showing some pathetic sympathy because you have personal issues with Indian system?

you should hang yourself, for you are unable to digest the truth. You are the pathetic coward breed who will talk against its own kind because we tolerate the likes of you, but you will not stand up when someone does something in name of Paedphile Mohammad and that shows your dubious face.

I fail to understand why these incidents occur on frequent basis, the students join the Uni to study and excel, further more I fail to understand how do they manage to find time to take part in such activities ?? Attack on the parliament was a most coward act and the supporter of such act should be treated in strictest possible manner.

What an outstanding set of parents! To have produced three sons who have achieved so much despite obvious material constraints. What is more, to have the courage of their convictions, honesty . integrity in such adversity !
