J-K: Troops bust terrorist hideout in Doda

TROOPS of Delta Force on Wednesday busted a terrorist hideout in hilly Doda district and seized a large quantity of arms, ammunition and explosives. Troops of Rashtriya Rifles, 42 SSB Battalion and State Police launched a joint operation in Kindre Forest at Gundoh following a specific information about the hideout of an erstwhile Lashkar-e-Taiba group operating in the Chenab Valley.

Kindre forest had been a stronghold of Lashkar terrorists in the past, a defence ministry spokesperson Lt Colonel Manish Mehta said.

The troops seized an AK 56 rifle, one .303 rifle, two Chinese pistols, one Under Barrel Grenade Launcher (UBGL) along with three UBGL grenades, 11 magazines each of AK rifles and Chinese pistols, besides huge quantity of 7.62 mm assorted rounds and other sustenance material.

The cache of arms and ammunition had been stocked by terrorists inside the hideout for use at an opportune time, spokesperson said, adding that it had the potential to cause large scale casualties and damage to the life and property of people.

Complimenting troops who participated in the operation, General Officer Commanding of the Delta Force said that the recovery of cache manifests the sustained efforts by Delta Force toward dismantling of terrorist infrastructure and their support base in Chenab Valley.
