Israeli woman gangraped in Manali, two arrested

A case was registered at Manali police station under IPC Sections 363, 368, 376 and 506.

A DAY after a 25-year-old Israeli national was allegedly gang-raped in Manali after being offered a lift in the early hours of Sunday, two youths from Kullu district in Himachal Pradesh were arrested Monday for the crime.

The police have also impounded the vehicle (registration number HP34B0786) allegedly used in the crime.

A case was registered at Manali police station under IPC Sections 363, 368, 376 and 506.

Kullu’s Superintendent of Police Padam Singh identified the two suspects as Akshay Rana and Pankaj. “A major manhunt has been launched and we expect to make more arrests soon,” he said.

The victim, who was admitted at a local hospital in Manali after the incident on Sunday, was meanwhile taken to Bilaspur for a detailed medical examination.

The police have informed the Israeli embassy about the incident .
