The Meteorological Department is keeping a close watch on the weather forecast after rains lashed the city on Monday ahead of the Yoga Day celebrations.

Even as cloudy conditions are likely to persist Tuesday, the Met Department stated that there is little chances of rain early morning. “There is a possibility of rainfall late Monday night, but as of now, rainfall is unlikely to occur Tuesday morning. It is difficult to exactly ascertain if it will rain during the event, but we are updating the UT Administration about the changes in weather every three hours,” an official from the Chandigarh Meteorological Department stated.

Taking note of the uncertainty in weather conditions, the UT Administration is going to deploy over 500 volunteers at the Capitol Complex. In the event of a rainfall, the volunteers will make sure that the yoga mats are picked up as soon as possible. Once the rain recedes, the event will continue, officials stated.
