Addressing BJP’s Vijay Sankalp Meet in Panaji, Manohar Parrikar said that he has given clear instructions to fire before someone else does. “My clear directions are if someone comes with machine gun to fire, you finish him off before he does,” Manohar Parrikar said. “Therefore we were able to give befitting response to our enemy,” he added. Parrikar said that the main aim of NDA government is to make borders of our country safe. “After we came to power, our attention was on making our borders safe.”

With less than six-months for the state assembly election, Bharatiya Janatha Party (BJP) formally began its poll campaign from the Vijay Sankalp Rally which was flagged off by Union Defence Minister and senior Party leader Manohar Parrikar.

Manohar Parrikar last week had also raised questions on India’s ‘no first use’ nuclear policy. He asked why India cannot say “we are a responsible nuclear power and I will not use it irresponsibly” instead of affirming a “no first use policy”, adding that the remarks were personal in nature.

“Why should I bind myself? I should say I am a responsible nuclear power and I will not use it irresponsibly. This is my(personal) thinking,” Parrikar had said.

India had declared a ‘no first use’ nuclear policy in 1998 after a nuclear weapon test.
