A day after an FIR relating to sedition charges was registered against him, Delhi Chief Minister Arvind Kejriwal claimed he was a “bigger patriot” than Prime Minister Narendra Modi.

“A sedition case has been filed against me. I am an anti-national in their eyes because I have been raising my voice for Dalits, the poor and backward,” Kejriwal tweeted.

Attacking the BJP-led Centre for not arresting those who shouted “anti-national” slogans in Jawaharlal Nehru University, Kejriwal added, “I am a bigger patriot than Modi ji. I ask – Why has Modi ji not arrested those shouting slogans of “desh ki barbadi” (destruction of the country) till now?”

Alleging that those arrests had not been made due to the BJP’s political concerns in Kashmir, Kejriwal said, “Those shouting slogans are from Kashmir and (PDP chief) Mehbooba Mufti will be angry if they are arrested. Our soldiers are being martyred at the border. And Modi ji is protecting anti-national elements to form government in Kashmir?” Stating that he would not be threatened by these allegations and would continue to raise concerns, Kejriwal said, “I will continue to fight for Dalits, poor and backward. They cannot silence me.”

On Sunday, an FIR was registered at Saroornagar police station in Hyderabad following a court order relating to sedition charges against nine persons including Kejriwal, Congress vice president Rahul Gandhi and CPM leader Sitaram Yechury.
