Wondering how long India and Pakistan will remain in a state of “animosity” and “hostility”, National Conference leader Farooq Abdullah on Tuesday underlined the need for peace as the people of Jammu and Kashmir are the primary victims of confrontation between the two countries. “How long shall we remain in the state of animosity and hostility? There is no substitute to peace, and both India and Pakistan understand that wars cannot solve political issues,” he said while addressing a public meeting in the border district of Rajouri.

“Political issues have to be resolved amicably and through a meaningful and credible political process,” added the former Chief Minister of the state. He recalled the peace dividends of the border ceasefire agreement between India and Pakistan during the tenure of former Prime Minister Atal Behari Vajpayee and said he saw no reason why that experiment and spirit cannot be implemented now. Abdullah referred to the sufferings caused to border dwellers due to dislocation from their homes because of shelling and cross-LoC firing, saying “tragically this has become a routine” since the past few years.

The dislocation brings with it the trauma of deprivation and disempowerment, as farmers cannot harvest their crops, economic activity gets paralyzed, and a fear psychosis engulfs everyone while children are deprived of their dreams,” he said. Abdullah appealed for strengthening the legacy of amity and tranquility in the state. Without naming any political entity, he cautioned people against nefarious attempts to divide people on the basis of region and religion.

“Jammu and Kashmir has been, is and will continue to remain a single entity,” he said and called upon the party cadre to work with dedication and commitment to meet various challenges that the state is confronted with. “On the bedrock of our legacy, it is our duty to promote
amity and brotherhood, which the party has upheld and nurtured during the most trying circumstances in our history. Hindu, Muslim, Sikh, Buddhist and Christian unity has been at the core of the National Conference’s political philosophy and this has to be maintained at all costs,” he said.

As long as there are leaders like Farooq who do not have any connect with people of JandK and just want to extort money from both the sides and keep omitting venom about India to keep the temperature up there will be no peace.

His son has gone to USA to enjoy the lift which till now father was doing. Mr Farooq do not worry about the period for which the hostilities will continue. Till your masters do not stop their cross border terror acts, this impe will remain. If you want to give any advice, please give the same to your traitor friends in Kashmir and also your masters in stan. But you cannot do that because you are doing this after receiving payments from Pak.

The good old golden saying T-I-N-A.There is no alternative. All things considered Sheikh Abudallah father of Farooq Abdullah was a towering personality known as lion of Kashmir.M.A.Jinnah,Maharaja of Kashmir as well Nehru envied Sheikh pority in Kashmir and tired to woo him.But his stakes were high. He had an unrealistic ambition to be the PM of Kashmir as independent sovereign state.making it sanatorium of East, a tourist paradise like Switzerland, with complete neutrality with neighbors. But Kashmir is not Swiss-which is highly developed industrially and also known for its covert banking.Kashmir cannot thrive on Apples and Walnuts-it is in need of umbrage from a big brother like India. Sheikh realized and opted to be part of India-so his family stakes a dynastic claim for holding power reins. who else is better qualified now?

He is the man who allowed the situation in Kashmir to come to such a p. His family has been ruling Kashmir since 1960. Three generations like his. He has the guts to ask the question, how long two counties will continue to be hostile to each other. If he does not know the reason, who will?. This is the quality of political cl here.

When cross border terrorist and infiltration talks, peace will come in JandK and so is development. At that point, we can think of peace with Pak, we are a bigger economy, we don't need s.
