A couple in Badaun Saturday allegedly strangulated their 20-year-old daughter and her boyfriend after finding them in a “compromising position” while a youth in Kanpur allegedly bludgeoned to death his father and sister, suspecting them of being in an illicit relationship, police said. Prima facie, both are suspected to be honour killings, police said, adding that in both cases, the accused went to the police stations concerned and confessed to the crime.

In the first incident reported from Nadayal village in Badaun district, Mausam Ali (65) and his wife Hamsareen (57) allegedly strangulated their daughter Noorjahan and her boyfriend Kafeel Ahmed (21) on Saturday.

SHO Kashmeer Singh Yadav said Hamsareen told the police that she spotted Kafeel in her daughter’s room and informed her husband. “Kafeel was hiding under the bed. They overpowered Kafeel and strangulated him. They later killed their daughter too,” the SO said.

In the Kanpur incident, the accused had reportedly told police that his mother died about a decade ago and since then his father was in an illicit relationship with his sister. The youth allegedly killed them by hitting them with an iron rod.
