A couple in Badaun Saturday strangulated to death their 20-year-old daughter and her boyfriend after allegedly finding them in a “compromising position”, while a youth in Kanpur bludgeoned to death his father and sister after suspecting them of being in an illicit relationship, police said.
Prima facie both are suspected to be honour killings, they said, adding in both the incidents, the accused walked to the concerned police stations on their own and confessed to the crime.
In the first incident reported from Nadayal village in Sehaswan police station area of Badaun district, Mausam Ali (65) and his wife Hamsareen (57) allegedly strangulated their daughter Noorjahan and her boyfriend Kafeel Ahmed (21) of the same village in the wee hours of Saturday.
Kashmeer Singh Yadav, station officer of Saheswan, said Hamsareen told the police that she spotted Kafeel in her daughter’s room in the night and informed her husband.
“The couple knocked at the door. The girl opened the doors reluctantly and the couple searched the room to find the boy hiding under the bed. They overpowered Kafeel and strangulated him. They later killed their daughter too,” the officer said.
The girl’s father walked to the police station in the morning and told the police that he has killed his daughter and her boyfriend.
On being questioned, his wife later too accepted being part of the crime, the SO added.
Both were arrested and produced before the court, which sent them to jail.
Meanwhile in Kanpur, a youth killed his 65-year-old father and his 36-year-old sister before walking to the Naubasta police station where he confessed to the crime.
The youth told the police his mother had died about a decade ago and since then his father was in an illicit relationship with his sister.
The youth’s three other elder brothers had allegedly started living somewhere else owing to the illicit relationship between their father and sister.
The policemen rushed to the youth’s house to find bodies of his father and sister lying in pool of blood. The youth told the police that he killed them by hitting them with an iron rod and bricks. He also handed over the blood-stained rod used in the crime.
The police later called the youth’s brothers for questioning.
Rajeev Dwivedi, SHO, Naubasta police station, said the eldest of the four brothers told the police that their father and sister were in a relationship. He said that they had got their sister married twice, but every time she came back home within months.
Another son told the police that they had left the house in the last couple of years as it had become difficult to live with their father.
