He might be at loggerheads with the Centre on issues concerning Himachal Pradesh and cases filed against him by the ED and the CBI, but Chief Minister Virbhadra Singh Saturday backed Prime Minister Narendra Modi on the Kashmir issue.
“Not only Kashmir, PoK is also a part of India,” Virbhadra said in reply to a question on Modi’s stand.
The Chief Minister said that people in PoK were being forced to live in fear, and that the situation there is grim.
Referring to people of Balochistan, Virbhadra said they were being subjected to atrocities. “The neighbouring country should adopt corrective measures and should not keep an eye on Indian territory,” he said.
On the row surrounding flogging of seven Dalits in Una, Gujarat, the Chief Minster said that skinning of dead cows was a very old profession. “We should respect the profession,” he said.
Virbhadra said that the Prime Minister should have made a statement in Parliament on the issue instead of using
another public forum.
