Union minister Harsimrat Kaur Badal today termed as “historic” the decision of Delhi High Court upholding the powers of Lt Governor of Delhi and said the verdict has “exposed” the propaganda unleashed by chief minister Arvind Kejriwal against the Centre.
“It has been proved beyond any doubt that Delhi chief minister Arvind Kejriwal lacks political wisdom and knowledge of democratic set up of the country. With this one decision of Delhi High Court, the propaganda of Kejriwal that the Union government was interfering with the work of Delhi government and it does not allow the Delhi chief minister to discharge his constitutional duties stands exposed,” she said in a statement. The Shiromani Akali Dal MP said, “Kejriwal’s formula of divisive politics is dangerous for the federal set up of the nation.”
She said the Delhi High Court has held that Lieutenant Governor of Delhi Najeeb Jung would remain the administrative head of the National Capital Territory and the contention of Aam Aadmi Party that the LG is bound to act on advice of Council of Ministers like in other states is without any substance and cannot be accepted.
“The nation has seen that Delhi CM Kejriwal has waged an unconstitutional war against the Lieutenant Governor of Delhi and squandered the taxpayers’ money on unnecessary litigation to fulfil his political ambitions,” she said. The Union Food Processing Industries minister added that Kejriwal should first read the Constitution of India before nurturing political ambitions.
She asked Kejriwal not to indulge in political jugglery just to hit headlines and to stop befooling the citizens of the country. She alleged that AAP has leaders who are involved in criminal activities with cases lodged against 11 of its MLAs. Even Kejriwal was facing nine serious charges, she said. “Kejriwal had deceived the people of Delhi and now he is befooling the people of Punjab,” she said.
