Haryana Chief Minister Manohar Lal Khattar announced on Saturday to accord the status of police district to Hansi sub division. “We want decentralisation as it helps in running the administration smoothly,” he said, and later added, “to begin with Hansi would be a separate police district”. Khattar, who was addressing a public meeting at new Grain Market in Hansi,Hisar district, said Hansi, which is famous for historic relics and it would soon be developed as a ‘Heritage City’. The government has submitted a proposal in this regard to the Centre.
He also announced that the sewerage system in Hansi would be strengthened at a cost of about Rs 8.12 crore. Around Rs 92 crore has already been spent on development projects in Hansi assembly constituency, Khattar said. He said, “Like the favourable decision of the Supreme Court on the issue of Sutlej Yamuna Link Canal, the decision on Hansi-Bhutana multi-purpose Link Canal would also be in favour of Haryana”.
He said SYL is a “lifeline of the state and with the Supreme Court decision in favour of Haryana, the state would get its due share of water”. On the occasion, presidents of five Khap Panchayats also honoured the Chief Minister for “effectively pursuing the SYL issue in the Supreme Court”. Khattar said the work on Rohtak-Hansi railway line, which was lying pending for many years, has also been started.
