Polling for six municipal corporations, 56 nagarpalikas, 31 district panchayats and 230 taluka panchayats will be held in Gujarat on November 22 and 29, the State Election Commission announced Friday. With this declaration, the Model Code of Conduct came in force with immediate effect.
While elections to municipal corporations will be held on November 22, district panchayats, taluka panchayats and nagarpalikas will go to polls on November 29.
In these elections, neither the compulsory voting provision nor the None Of the Above (NOTA) option will be available, State Election Commissioner Varesh Sinha said. The poll panel, earlier, had announced that it will postpone the elections by three months, citing law and order situation in the state amid ongoing Patidar agitation.
