Gujarat: AAP launches campaign to raise daily wagers’ income from Rs 7k to Rs14k

After its Surat rally, the Aam Aadmi Party (AAP) has begun the exercise to select workers to be appointed for all electoral booth units across the state. There are a total of over 43,000 electoral booths in the state. AAP media convener Harshil Nayak said that a meeting to this effect was held at the residence of Delhi chief minister and AAP convener Arvind Kejriwal on Saturday. Kejriwal also took feedback about the party’s position from party in-charge in gujarat Gulab singh yadav.

Prominent among those who took part in the meeting on Saturday included national spokesperson Sanjay Singh and ministers Manish Sisodia, Kapil Mishra and Gopal Rai.

Meanwhile, AAP’s Shramik Vikas Sangathan (SVS) working among workers and labourers, has launched a signature campaign in the state from October 20. It will continue till December 14.

The sangathan is demanding monthly hike in daily wages for daily workers to Rs 14,052 per month as being paid by the Delhi government. The monthly minimum wages in Gujarat at present is Rs 7,176.

According to Nayak, the sangathan would submit a memomrandum to state labour minister Dilip Kumar Thakore on December 15, along with signatures, requesting him to hike the minimum wages as being given in Delhi.
