Gram pradhan election: Post-poll clash claims four lives in Etawah

Four persons were killed while two others suffered gunshot injuries during a clash between two groups following rivalry over recently held gram pradhan elections at Bankati village in Jaswantnagar police station area of Etawah district Saturday afternoon.

The deceased included three associates of Bhupendra Yadav who is the husband of newly elected gram pradhan Shweta Yadav.

They were identified as Kallu alias Devendra Yadav (35), Asaram Yadav (55), Dhaniram (45). The fourth victim was Mukesh Yadav alias Gudda whose aunt Kishan Shri lost the elections against Shweta.

Bhupendra and his father Ram Shankar sustained gunshot injuries in the clash and are admitted at PGI, Saifai. The doctors have stated their condition as stable.

Additional SP, Etawah, Lallan Singh Yadav said that the incident was fallout of rivarly between Mukesh Yadav and Bhupendra over recently concluded gram pradhan elections. Tension between both the groups accelerated Saturday afternoon when Bhupendra filed a complaint of land grabbing against Mukesh with the district administration, said the ASP.

The police claimed to have recovered four empty shells of .315 bore firearm from the spot. No one has been arrested so far.

Heavy police force have been deployed at the Bankati village to maintain peace.
