Govind Pansare murder: Virendra Tawde sent to police custody

The CBI had arrested Tawde on June 10 to probe his role in the murder of anti-superstition activist Dr Narendra Dabholkar.

A Kolhapur court Saturday remanded Sanatan Sanstha member Dr Virendra Tawade in police custody till September 8 for investigation into the murder of communist leader Govind Pansare.

The CBI had arrested Tawde on June 10 to probe his role in the murder of anti-superstition activist Dr Narendra Dabholkar.

Meanwhile, the SIT probing the Pansare murder — which had arrested Sanatan Sanstha member Sameer Gaikwad on December 14, 2015 in regards to the case — got permission from a Pune court to get Tawde’s custody, so as to probe his involvement in this case.

Accordingly, SIT took Tawde into custody from the Yerwada Central Prison after completing the legal procedures on Friday. And on Saturday, the SIT produced him before the Kolhapur court demanding his custody for 14 days.
