Gold worth Rs 15 lakh seized from Kolkata airport

Gold bars worth more than Rs 15 lakh have been seized by the customs department at the Netaji Subhas Chandra Bose International Airport in Kolkata on Thursday.

Acting on a tip-off, officials started checking the luggage brought by passengers on a Bhutan Airlines flight from Bangkok to Kolkata.

Passengers were asked to transfer their baggage to trolleys provided by the customs department.

Later, two unattended trolleys were found concealing 11 gold bars weighing around 475 g. No arrests have been made so far, officials said.
