The Union government has introduced a new registration module for Indian students who are studying abroad in order to create a database. Minister of External Affairs Sushma Swaraj had tweeted on Thursday informing everyone about this new initiative.

“We have no data of Indian students studying abroad. We have therefore, started a Students Registration Module on,” she tweeted.

The minister urged all Indian students in foreign countries to register with the module. “This will be of immense help,” she asserted.

“In case of any emergency, our Embassy will be able to reach you. While abroad – Indian Embassy is your family,” Swaraj said.

A day after she made this announcement, Sushma Swaraj also cautioned the students about fraud calls that claim to have found some problems with their paper work. “They ask for money failing which they (students) are threatened with deportation. Please do not fall prey to such calls. These calls are fake,” Swaraj iterated.

The platform aims at providing proper assistance to students and solve their grievances. Any student can easily register by logging into the website and providing some basic details.
