BORDER SECURITY Force (BSF) personnel Friday said they seized five packets, of one kg each, of contraband suspected to be heroin in the area of responsibility of Border Outpost Daoke in Sector Amritsar Thursday. A press note issued by the BSF said, “Some suspicious movement of Pakistani smugglers near International Border ahead of Border Security Fence in the area of responsibility of Border Out Post Daoke on Thursday evening was observed by BSF troops deployed on duty.

Immediately, BSF troops alerted the nearby sentries. When the Pak smugglers reached near border security fence and started something throwing over it, BSF troops told them to stop, but the smugglers continued with their aggressive posture.
To stop their misadventure further, BSF troops opened fire, however, the smugglers managed to escape taking cover of thick vegetation, undulating ground and darkness. After first light, search of both side of fence was carried out. During search of the area, BSF troops recovered 5 packets (approx. 5 kgs) of contraband suspected to be heroin, lying near own side of Border Security Fence.”
