MULAYAM SINGH Yadav on Saturday met youth leaders who were expelled by Samajwadi Party state president Shivpal Yadav on September 20 for allegedly making “derogatory remarks” against the SP national chief. These leaders are considered close to Chief Minister Akhilesh Yadav, and their meeting with Mulayam has triggered speculations of their possible return to the party fold.

This comes after Mulayam on Thursday reinducted his cousin Ram Gopal Yadav, who was also recently expelled from SP on charges of anti-party activities.
Sources said Mulayam called the youth leaders for a meeting following Akhilesh’s intervention. “The leaders handed over a letter to Mulayam, explaining that they were not involved in any act of protest against him. They also tendered an apology in case they did anything wrong by mistake. The youth leaders requested Mulayam for another chance to work for the party,” said a source. Mulayam reportedly spoke to them for more than an hour.
When contacted, MLC Anand Bhadauria said, “We met Netaji today and requested that we be given another chance to work for the party again. Netaji has assured us that he would consider our request.”
On September 19, Shivpal had expelled MLCs Sunil Singh Yadav ‘Sajan’, Anand Bhadauria and Sanjay Lathar, along with Gaurav Dubey and Mohd Ebaad — national and state presidents of Mulayam Youth Brigade — Samajwadi Party Yuvjan Sabha state president Brijesh Yadav and Samajwadi Chhatra Sabha state chief Digvijay Singh Deo. They had protested outside Mulayam’s residence, demanding the reinstatement of Akhilesh as the state party president in place of Shivpal.
Samajwadi Lohia Vahini state president Pradeep Tiwari too had resigned from the post, alleging that youths were feeling suffocated after Shivpal was appointed the party state
Other leaders expelled by Shivpal included Ram Gopal’s nephew and party MLC Arvind Yadav. Later, MLC Udaiveer Singh, also close to Akhilesh, was expelled from SP for writing to Mulayam for elevating Akhilesh as the party’s national president, and also targeting Shivpal and Mulayam’s second wife.
As these expelled leaders were not allowed inside the party headquarters, they could be seen at Janeshwar Mishra Trust, run by Akhilesh. They had also attended a meeting held by Ram Gopal in Etawah on November 13.
