Ex-corporator’s son himself fired on RTI activist Bhupendra Vira: Police

Vira had been shot dead on October 15 at his Vakola residence while he was watching TV at home.

The Mumbai police probing the murder of Vakola resident Bhupendra Vira said that Amjad Khan, son of former corporator Razzak Khan claims to have shot Vira. Late Wednesday night crime branch claimed to have recovered the pistol used in the firing.

Vira had been shot dead on October 15 at his Vakola residence while he was watching TV at home. The police had then arrested former corporator Razzak Khan and his son Amjad Khan for plotting the murder. The police said that several RTIs filed by Vira into several illegal constructions of Khan had led to the father son duo planning the murder.

A senior crime branch officers said that so far Amjad has been claiming that he himself fired on the corporator. His interrogation has also led us to the weapon that had been used in the firing. Investigations are on in the case.
