Ex-Congress secy & former deputy advocate general Bhupinder Singh Bittu joins AAP

Bittu was a loyalist of former Congress state president Partap Singh Bajwa and had contested in Khadoor Sahib by-election as an Independent

Former secretary of Punjab Congress Bhupinder Singh Bittu, who contested Khadoor Sahib byelection as an Independent in February 2016 and bagged 18,000 votes, and former Deputy Advocate General Gulshan Sharma Thursday joined the Aam Aadmi Party in the presence of state convener Gurpreet Singh Waraich.

Bittu was a loyalist of former Congress president Partap Singh Bajwa and had contested in Khadoor Sahib byelection as an Independent when Congress had pulled out of the contest. Bittu was appointed president of block Congress committee, Khadoor Sahib, in 1998.

He remained sarpanch of Gram Sabha Khawaspur from year 2002 to 2007 and Block Samiti member from 2008 to 2013. He was elected chairman of market committee, Khadoor Sahib, from 2003 to 2007. Gulshan Sharma’s father Pt Balmukand Sharma has been elected MLA five times from Ferozepur city and served as Cabinet Minister in Punjab government.

Gulshan served Punjab government as Deputy Advocate General at Punjab and Haryana High Court from 1990 to 1992.
