“Pakistan is the biggest evil of present times and hence, we have burnt its effigy on Dussehra because it is festival of victory of good on evil,” said Punjab cabinet minister Anil Joshi in a speech at the event. Union finance minsiter Arun Jaitley, who was also invited, could not make it due to his hectic schedule.

A BJP leader said, “It is good that Jaitley didn’t come. It would had been an awkward situation for him as union minister to show the symbolic firing of an arrow on the effigies. It was good for publicity but not for international diplomacy in case Jaitley was present.”
