Delhi chief secretary K K Sharma has directed the principal secretaries and heads of departments to themselves collate the information sought by the Election Commission (EC) on 21 parliamentary secretaries appointed by the Delhi government. The replies, with no laxity in details, have to be filed with the EC by September 15. The Delhi High Court recently set aside the AAP government’s notification to appoint 21 MLAs as parliamentary secretaries.
According to a source, emphasis is on the “accuracy” of information. “The information collation is with regard to departments, autonomous bodies, PSUs, corporation and authorities under GNCTD,” said the source. An emergency meeting, at ‘short notice’, was called to explain the urgency of furnishing details, said sources.
Sharma explained to the officials details they need to collate, said a source. One would be collation of actual documents, for instance copy of minutes, attendance sheets, notings, orders; and the another would be required evaluation and assessment in their response, the source added. “Evaluated position/assessment to the extent feasible must come from actual documents…” said the source.
“Information sought would require each department to collate all the necessary points in tabulated form with regard to MLAs/MLAs as parliamentary secretaries and MLAs nominated to samitis, committees, corporations and authorities,” added the source.
