East Midnapore: One killed, 40 injured in separate bus accidents

East Midnapore: A source in the police said over 20 persons were injured and four had been hospitalised in serious conditions.

One person died and 40 others were injured in two separate bus accidents in East Midnapore district. A bus lost control on Sreerampore State Highway in the Sonamoi area of Tamluk and fell on its side in the early hours on Sunday.

A source in the police said over 20 persons were injured and four had been hospitalised in serious conditions.

“The accident took place early this morning as visibility was poor owing to the fog. It threw traffic out of gear in the area. Police reached the spot to bring the situation under control,” said an official of the district police.

In another incident late on Saturday evening, a bus lost control on Egra State Highway near Ramnagar and fell into a water body.
One person died on the spot and 20 others were injured. The inured have been admitted to Egra Hospital.
