In a sarcastic take on the emotional pitch of Prime Minister Narendra Modi over demonetisation, Shiv Sena Tuesday said his decision to scrap high value currency notes would not put his life in danger unlike his predecessors Indira and Rajiv Gandhi who were assasinated while fighting for greater goals of the country.

Making an emotional appeal at a function in Goa on November 13, Modi had said that there were certain forces up against him that may not let him live and destroy him completely due to his decision on demonetisation and asserted that he was ready to face any consequence but would not get bogged down even if he was burnt alive.

“PM Modi is under a security which is impregnable, and where even a mosquito cannot bite him. Lives have been sacrificed by those innumerable freedom fighters for the nation. (Former PM) Indira Gandhi had waged a war against Khalistani anti-nationals, for which she paid by sacrificing her life,” the Sena said in an editorial in party mouthpiece ‘Saamana’.

“Rajiv Gandhi’s decision to send a peace keeping force to Sri Lanka may be questionable but he had to sacrifice his life in return,” it said.

“Modi has only changed the currency notes, which does not mean attacking Pakistan or dragging Jamaat-ud-Dawa (JuD) chief Hafiz Saeed to India…Hence, there is no scare to him from terrorists. It is the common man who is scared,” the Sena said.

“PM Modi need not punish himself and the government need not take to heart the hardships being faced by common man,” it added.

It said that people are suffering silently and in a peaceful manner and thus Modi need not fear for his life.

Despite being a partner of the BJP-led governments in Maharashtra as well as at the Centre, unlike other NDA components the Sena has taken a strident stance against the demonetisation, holding the hardship it causes to the people is greater than its positive yield.

In a stinging editorial its mouthpiece yesterday dubbed demonetisation of Rs 500 and Rs 1000 notes as “demonic” and one that resulted in “financial anarchy” in the country and said that by doing so, he had hurt citizens, who did not possess any black money.

shiv sena does have a point or two.but it would have been better if they withdrew from the govt and then criticised.barring the selfie and facebook people, common people and working mes are reeling under this impact.bjp govt needs to explain action taken against the corrupt people, robert vadra still going strong,no action only tall talks.situation is certainly not as rosy as bjp govt is trying to make out.they will get the answer in coming elections.it should also explain the measures taken for bringing swiss money.i did vote for bjp last time but have serious reservations now.bjp taking people for granted.

Shiv Mena is keeping estranged relations with Modi after Modi cut off their ears, nose and thumbs in and after embly elections. This they shall know in rural elections although BJP has joined with them. Since their ears, nose and thumbs have already been cut off what remains of Mena to be cut off? Certainly their stunted wings remain to be cut off. Let Mena die a slow death.

It is indeed sad to see the land that produced stalwarts like Lokmanya Tilak now have creepy crawley characters under various names like the Sena of Uddhav Thackeray. Honor, valour farsightedness, National well-being, good of humanity are for their forefathers but greed , duplicity with ET TU BRUTUS hallmark are their current motto. Suits the Narada Sharad specialists to make Uddav crawl on his toes. Shame indeed. BJP should kick them out as far as Bengal.

A barb in the back for Modii. If allowed more than half of his cabinet colleagues will vouch against his idea of demonetization which is not his mantra. Earlier NDA govt has also done thus act. At best it is repeion without learning any lesson. It is his stupidity and his notoriety for claiming success and patriotism on every minor step.

Shiv Sena talks sense. The people of India does not need PM Modi's emotional speech, but a fool proof action plan to reduce the common man burden. If PM Modi can demonitize the currency overnight, he can as well p orders to RBI and minting press to release the new currency at a faster pace to banks and ATMs.

This show of enemies becoming friends over night - Didi talking to Commies, Udhav Joining hands with Didi and all other opposition parties uniting in the name of aam aadmi only demonstrates how much they are agitated by withdrawal of 500 and 1000 notes. All these netas must have lost several thousands of crores. But they are using the name of the common man for airing their grouse. What a pathetic set of politicians we have. it is a shame to call them our leaders. Now Supreme Court has thrashed the peion to stop the operation and President of India has already appreciated the government. Now all those who are opposing the government will stop the parliament from functioning. What a pitiable condition we are in. But let us - people of this country rally behind Modi to clean the system which has been rotting for the last 70 years.
