Bahujan Samaj Party (BSP) supremo Mayawati on Saturday took a jibe at the Centre over the demonetisation issue, saying the decision was taken for political gains. She took a dig at Prime Minister Narendra Modi and said he was scared to address the Opposition in the Parliament. Mayawati said the demonetisation move had brought nothing but economic emergency causing suffering among the common people.
While opposing the move, Mayawati said her party did it for the the sake of the nation and not for any political benefit. She accused PM Modi of emotionally blackmailing people by shedding tears. “Leaving his home for the nation was a matter to be appreciated but that doesn’t mean that he would annoy the people of the country.”
Mayawati added there was no tension on the faces of BJP leaders, after the demonetisation move as they had enough time to adjust their black money beforehand. “If there were to be riots in the country because of the demonetisation move only Modi would be responsible for it.”
