Amid a controversy over the ink attack on Delhi Chief Minister Arvind Kejriwal, the AAP Tuesday alleged Delhi Police was “leaking” details of his security, even as it claimed that it had not asked for any kind of security cover for the party supremo.

The Aam Aadmi Party also targeted Union Finance Minister Arun Jaitley over the Mudgal Committee report, saying that even it had pointed out alleged irregularities in the Delhi & District Cricket Association (DDCA) and that the BJP leader should now tender his resignation.

Following reports in a section of media that Kejriwal’s PA had asked a policeman to get off the stage at the last minute, AAP’s Delhi unit convenor Dilip Pandey said Delhi Police should reveal the name of the policeman concerned so that the lapse could be probed into.

“Delhi Police is leaking out details of Delhi CM’s security and exposing him to threat. It is creating a ground that tomorrow if there is any kind of attack on Delhi CM, they can play safe. It should name the officer who was asked by the so called PA of Kejriwal to get off the stage so that a probe can be initiated into this matter,” Pandey said.

A young woman threw ink at Kejriwal in a public rally on Sunday.

The party claimed that there was no police personnel accompanying Kejriwal while he was returning from Ludhiana to the national capital last week.

“There was no security cover provided to Arvind Kejriwal when he was returning from Ludhiana to Delhi. Who would have been responsible in case of any untoward incident? In terms of security, it is a written protocol on who will be accompanying (the person to whom the cover has been given),” senior AAP leader Ashutosh said.

Kejriwal had gone to Amritsar on January 13 taking a flight and was given security cover till the airport. After he deboarded at Amritsar, Punjab Police took care of his security. He also addressed a rally at Muktsar on January 14. The party, however, claimed that there was no security cover when he left from Ludhiana to Delhi.

“We never claimed any security cover. This security has been imposed on us,” Pandey said.

Renewing its demand for Jaitley’s resignation, Ashutosh said the Mudgal Committee has pointed out several anomalies in the functioning of DDCA.

“The report states that the records were not made available to the committee, there were flaws in the tendering process and it was not transparent and there were no minutes of record available.

“It is also important to note that it was for the first time that the DDCA made profit when India-South Africa match was held at the Ferozshah Kotla under the supervision of Justice (retd.) Mudgal,” Ashutosh said.

Please clarify if you need security. If you need, then there has to be prior planning based on your schedule, operating procedures will have to be agreed, and interfaces on either side will have to be decided. Nobody Apart from the agreed interfaces will be able to command the police personnel. Think process, not ad-hoc ...
