Delhi Chief Minister Arvind Kejriwal on Wednesday had to cancel a Cabinet meeting which was scheduled to deliberate on measures to control pollution, following the detention of his deputy Manish Sisodia when he was going to meet the family of an ex-serviceman who committed suicide over the issue of One Rank One Pension (OROP).

All the Cabinet ministers were scheduled to discuss a plan to deal with air pollution at 4 PM, but the meeting had to be cancelled in view of the situation that prevailed following the suicide of the 70-year-old ex-serviceman.

Kejriwal said, “We are having to postpone the Cabinet meeting. Why? Because the Centre has resorted to hooliganism.”

The entire day witnessed a high drama when the Deputy CM went to meet family members of Ram Kishan Grewal at RML Hospital here and was detained by the police.

AAP volunteers later staged a protest against his detention outside Parliament Police station.

In the evening, police had to detain Chief Minister Kejriwal when he was going to Connaught Place Police station, where, according to him, Grewal’s son was detained.

Three days after Diwali festivities, the national capital remained shrouded in a cover of thick smog, laden with high level of pollutants which kept air quality in the ‘severe’ category.
