As India celebrated Dussehra on Tuesday, residents of Dwarka district in New Delhi burnt the effigy of Pakistan Prime Minister Nawaz Sharif along with Ravana. Traditionally, on Dussehra, the effigies of Ravana, Kumbhkaran and Meghnad are burnt during the festival to mark the culmination of evil.  Pakistan Prime Minister Nawaz Sharif has been extremely vocal against India in recent days after India blamed Pakistan-based militant outfit Jaish-e-Mohammad for the terrorist strike at an army camp in Uri on 18th September. Sharif has faced extreme backlash in India since his speech at United Nations General Assembly where he blamed India for perpetrating “gross and systematic violations of human rights” in Jammu and Kashmir.

Delhi is not the only place where Sharif’s effigy was burnt. Similar function was planned at Mohali in Punjab as well. Mohali Ramleela and Dussehra Committee’s President Bobby Kamboj said that Pakistan was sending terrorists to India and destroying the peace in the country. So they had decided that Sharif’s effigy would also be burnt along with the effigies of Ravana, Kumbhkarna and Meghnad at Phase VIII Dussehra ground.

During the rally, PM Modi also talked about terrorism and said that the world needs to united against terrorism. “If a country of 125 crore keep an eye on every terrorist activity, they will never succeed,” the Prime Minister said.
