The recovery of the dog of former Minister of State for HRD Ram Shankar Katheria could not have been more dramatic. Four days after the Agra MP circulated photographs of his lost pet, he received calls from as many as three persons who claimed to have found Kaloo. All the three ‘look-alike’ dogs were then brought to Agra for an identification parade on Saturday. That still could not serve the purpose, and finally the family had to call out the name – Kaloo. One of them wagged the tail, and the reunion was complete.
BJP ministers appear keen to avoid criticism for any neglect on farmer issues. On Friday, a letter from the Bihar government reached the Agriculture Ministry headed by Radha Mohan Singh, who has had quite a run-in with Chief Minister Nitish Kumar on the issue of the Prime Minister Fasal Bima Yojana. Within 90 minutes, Singh gave his nod to the request to increase the date of premium deduction for the scheme up to August 31. Singh did not stop at this. He also wrote a letter to Bihar Cooperative Minister Alok Mehta informing him that the state government’s letter arrived at his ministry at 12.30 pm, and he signed it immediately after it was produced before him at 2 pm.

While the Congress remained muted, the government seized the opportunity and organised celebrations. The Quit India movement followed a resolution passed by the Bombay AICC session in 1942 and the party let the BJP celebrate an AICC resolution. While the Congress let the Quit India anniversary go by, it has set up a high-powered panel to celebrate the birth centenary of Indira Gandhi.
