Under attack for introducing slab-based disability pension, defence ministry on Saturday said armed forces personnel would continue to get such pension based on percentage system till the Anomaly Committee came out with a report on the issue. There was widespread criticism from opposition parties and the military establishment over a letter issued on September 30 which had introduced a slab-based system, as recommended by the 7th Pay Commission, for determining the disability pension for defence forces. Following this, the Ministry had referred the matter to the Anomaly Committee.

However, there was confusion as to what system would be used to determine disability pension. Till the Committee comes out with a report, existing percentage system will be used to determine disability pension, defence sources said. Earlier, the defence ministry had said the 7th CPC had recommended a slab-based system for determining disability pension, which was accepted by the government.

A percentage-based system was followed under the 6th CPC regime for calculating disability pension for defence forces personnel as well as civilians.

What the military personnel are upset about is that civilians will continue to be paid pension according to the earlier “percentage system”, which means that a civilian employee will get higher disability pension than his military counterpart.

Armed Forces are the most dedicated services in our country.lt;br/gt;They must be paid at least at par with civilian employees. and at the same time .lt;br/gt;The confusion on disability pension is an unnecessary creation.lt;br/gt;The government should issue orders on disability element to be revised at par with civil employees without any delay ?lt;br/gt;Also additional old age pension on disability element should be given atlt;br/gt;par with civil employees .lt;br/gt;why Armed Forces personnel are the last to receive any benefits ?

First government downgraded the military ranks in comparison with civilian counterparts and now they have reduced the disability pension in comparison to civilian counterparts. Hence this is proved all government are same and do back stab military everytime.

Why do the government have to make the defence forces beg for their rights every time? Stop the atude of dishing out favours and ensure equitable treatment of armed forces with other government services. Mere repeating of the words "We love the army" make no difference to the soldiers!

First of all they should define the disability. If a person served full term in Army and their ociate departments being a disable he is getting full pension as per norms however if a person unable to serve Army and get premature retirement is only eligible to get disable apart from normal pension. All medical care are being taken care by Army hospitals respectively.

Disability pension calculated as per year of service and last pay drawn. A Sepoy serves for 17 years and hardly getting one MACP and in other part an Officer as well as a civilian serves till attaining age 60 years so they getting more than 2 MACP Promotion and getting more pension and disability element which is not fare with a Sepoy. Hence slap system for calculation of disability pension is better option.

Armed forces should have an upper hand compared to civilians..Who the fool is to compare civilian with the military person.
