Chief Minister of Meghalaya Mukul Sangma will be the convenor of the reconstituted Congress panel with the chief ministers of Mizoram and Manipur and state Congress presidents of all the Northeastern states as its members. All the former chief ministers of various Northeastern states, including Assam’s Tarun Gogoi and Arunachal Pradesh’s Nabam Tuki, will be the permanent invitees to the panel.

Senior leader Manish Tewari said the BJP and the Central government have been working overtime to destabilise Northeast. “Their inability to manage the larger geo-strategic environment, has resulted in repeated intrusions by the Chinese into Arunachal Pradesh… In addition to it, there is a whole spectre of internal subversion, the repeated destabilisation of elected Congress governments.”
