Congress had prepared white effigies as protest against sale of ‘chhitta’ (heroin) drug in Punjab and had planned to burn them on Dusshera along with photos of CM Parkash Singh Badal and deputy CM Sukhbir Singh Badal.

Police objecting to the white effigies had refused to issue No Objection Certificate to Congress. Police said that Congress must convert effigies into black ‘as per tradition’ if it wants NOC to which Congress did not agree.

Speaking to The Indian Express, Gogi who was seen bleeding profusely from the head, alleged that ‘Akali workers attacked them injuring him, MP Bittu and other workers.’

“They also vandalized our vehicles and effigies. We knew this was bound to happen as we had planned to burn effigies against drugs. That is the real Raavan eating Punjab today and none other than Badals are responsible for it,” said Gogi.

Both the parties had reached the office of Ludhiana police commissioner JS Aulakh till filing of this report.
