Chinese city to host India business, culture fest

China’s Yangzhou city, regarded as a key partner in promoting investments in India, is set to host India Week celebrations from Friday with a business and investment meeting to be attended by CEOs of top Indian firms. The city in coastal Jiangsu province has been an important business partner for India in the Eastern China Region (ECR) and Yangzhou companies have shown keen interest in investing in India as part of the projects available under the ‘Make in India’ initiative, said Prakash Gupta, Consulate General of India in Shanghai.

Xie Zhengyi, secretary of the ruling Communist Party of China’s Yangzhou unit, will soon lead an investors’ delegation to India to explore opportunities for investment, Gupta said. Besides Gupta, CEOs of leading Indian companies would be participating in the Business and Investment Forum Friday.

Their presentations would include initiatives sectors such as smart cities, infrastructure development, banking, IT and finance, urban transportation and power sector, Gupta said. A series of B2B meetings have been planned between Indian and Chinese companies participating in the event.

As part of Yangzhou’s International Cuisine Festival, an ‘Incredible India Pavilion’ will be inaugurated Friday, showcasing select Indian food delicacies and promote tourism-related travel options for Yangzhou visitors to India. A week-long Indian Film Festival featuring dubbed versions of five Indian movies – ‘PK’, ‘Three Idiots’, ‘Bhaag Milkha Bhaag’, ‘Taare Zameen Par’, ‘Queen’, would be held, Gupta said.
