The two medical students who allegedly threw a dog off a terrace in Chennai were suspended from college on Wednesday.

Identified as Gowtham Sudarshan and Ashish Paul, they shot a video in which they were seen throwing a dog from the top of a building. The video went viral on social media drawing widespread condemnation from animal activists and others alike. A manhunt was launched by police to identify and nab the perpetrators. A reward of Rs 1 lakh was also announced by an activist to those providing information that could lead to the arrest of the accused.

The dog reportedly suffered fractures on its front and hind legs. It was found alive by an animal welfare activist and was taken to a veterinary hospital. The dog is now said to be out of danger.

The two students were arrested by Chennai Police today and produced before a magistrate court. They were granted bail later.
