Bulandshahr: Two minors abduct, murder 14-year-old, sent to juvenile home

According to police, 14-year-old Mehul Kumar who studied at J P school in Bulandshahr, was killed by one of his own classmates.

Two minors were detained on Wednesday by Bulandshahr police for killing the 14-year-old son of a doctor, whose body was found in a graveyard at the outskirts of the city on Monday.

The accused, aged 14 and 16, told police that they wanted to abducted the victim in order to get a ransom from his ‘rich’ father, which they would have used to visit Mumbai and meet their favourite Bollywood stars.

According to police, 14-year-old Mehul Kumar who studied at J P school in Bulandshahr, was killed by one of his own classmates. The 14-year-old accused was accompanied by one of his childhood friends, a 16-year-old Class XI student. The police interrogated Mehul’s classmates and friends, at which point the duo confessed to the crime.

Talking to The Indian Express, Bulandshahr SP (City) Maan Singh Chauhan said that the duo had attempted to abducted Mehul, but they accidentally killed him.

“They said that they wanted to make him unconscious, and for that they hit him with a brick. But rather than fainting, he died on the spot,” said the SP.

Mehul’s father, Bhupendra Singh, is a doctor at a government hospital. Mehul was the only son of Bhupendra’s first wife, who died soon after his birth. Singh then married a friend, who is a private practitioner in Bulandshahr. Police said that an FIR of abduction and murder has been filed against the minors, who were sent to a juvenile home on Wednesday.
