BJP will get ‘befitting reply’ from public during elections: Mamata Banerjee on demonetisation

Mamata will take part in a protest at Delhi's Jantar Mantar against the Centre's move to scrap old currency of higher denominations.

With the Trinamool Congress comfortably poised to win both Lok Sabha and assembly seats in West Bengal by-elections, Chief Minister Mamata Banerjee said Bharaitya Janata Party will a “befitting reply” from public and claimed that they won’t be able to get any votes this time. “BJP will get befitting reply from the people, they wont be able to get any vote this time,” she said.

Taking a swipe at Prime Minister Narendra Modi for his election promise of bringing back black money from Swiss banks, Mamata said: “Swiss Bank se paisa laana tha, par aam aadmi ka paisa chheen liya (They were supposed to bring back money from Swiss banks, but have snatched money from the common man).”

Mamata will take part in a protest at Delhi’s Jantar Mantar against the Centre’s move to scrap old currency of higher denominations. She said she would be in Delhi on November 23 and 24 before moving to Lucknow. “I will be in Delhi on November 23, 24 and in Lucknow on November 29. I will also go to Bihar and Punjab… I am yet to decide when I will travel to Punjab. On December 1 and 2, I will be in Bihar to attend protest programmes on demonetisation,” Mamata said on Monday.
