On Monday, CBI arrested Arvind Kejriwal’s Principal Secretary Rajendra Kumar along with 4 other leaders in a corruption case. Kumar faces allegations of awarding contracts worth Rs 9.5 crore between 2007 and 2014 to a private company.

Kumar, a 1989 IAS officer of UT cadre, was called along with Tarun Sharma, a Deputy Secretary in Kejriwal’s office, besides three other private persons for questioning at the CBI headquarters.

The arrests brought the Delhi government to come out in the open to ‘condemn’ the ruling government. Here is what AAP leaders said on Twitter:

Apart from Kumar and Sharma, who was the assistant director of Delhi’s VAT department during the time of the alleged scam, the CBI also arrested Sandeep Kumar and Dinesh Gupta, both directors of Endeavour Systems Pvt Ltd (ESPL), which bagged the contracts currently being probed, and Ashok Kumar, an alleged aide of Rajendra Kumar.

The CBI had registered a corruption case against Kumar and six others. The case was registered based on a complaint from former Delhi Dialogue Commission (DDC) member Ashish Joshi to the Delhi Police Anti-Corruption bureau (ACB) earlier in 2016.
