Mussoorie BJP MLA Ganesh Joshi, who allegedly attacked a 14-year-old Kathiawari mare, Thursday visited a stable in which the horse is currently recuperating from multiple fractures on its left hind leg.

Shaktiman, who is part of the Himachal Pradesh Police’s mounted-unit, was allegedly beaten with sticks by Joshi and his associates at a protest march.

Local veterinary doctors operated on Shaktiman for five hours before ruling out amputating its leg. They said it would be back on its feet in six weeks. A team of doctors from Mumbai and Pune are slated to arrive Thursday to take stock of Shaktiman’s progress.

Meanwhile, People for Animal Welfare is demanding why Joshi hasn’t been arrested even three days after the alleged assault.

“Not only should MLA be arrested but should be expelled by his party,” said Gauri Mulekhi, People for Animal Welfare.

What do we expect from such heartless leaders? People should realise by now that cow protection is just drama and these ruthless people really do not care for anything and anyone.

The MLA has proved himself to be a criminal in disguise. It's unfortunate that even though there seems to be Mr. Sadanand Date, one of the finest police officers in the country, in charge of the police force there on the occasion, the MLA has not yet been booked and brought to his senses ever after 3 days of the incident. When rule of law fails to take its own course, people can be justified taking the law in to their own hands and mete out the same treatment to the offenders that they meted out to their victims.
